See AllArchaeological Museum of Samothrace The Archaeological Museum of Samothrace is located in Samothrace of the Evros regional unit, in Greece.Το Κάστρο της Χώρας Το Κάστρο της Χώρας δεσπόζει πάνω στην κορυφή ενός απόκρημνου, βραχώδους λόφου στα βορειοανατολικά του ομώνυμου, σύγχρονου οικισμού και αποτελεί ένα σημαντικό μνημείο υστεροβυζαντινής φρουριακής αρχιτεκτονικής. Η ίδρυση του τοποθετείται στα 1431-1433 και αποδίδεται στον γενουάτη άρχοντα Παλαμήδη Γατελούζο, που απέκτησε την κυριότητα της Σαμοθράκης από τον Ιωάννη Ε? τον Παλαιολόγο, επειδή τον βοήθησε στη διαμάχη του με τον Ιωάννη Καντακουζηνό για την κατοχή του θρόνου του Βυζαντίου.Τo Κάστρο καταλαμβάνει συνολική έκταση 1880 τ.μ. και αποτελείται από την εσωτερική και την εξωτερική οχύρωση. Η κύρια είσοδος του ανοίγεται στο ανατολικό μέτωπο του μεταπυργίου ανάμεσα στον ορθογώνιο και τον κυκλικό πύργο της εξωτερικής οχύρωσης.Ο ορθογώνιος πύργος που χτίστηκε στα 1433 είναι ένα τριώροφο κτίσμα, ύψους 11,30μ. με τοξοθυρίδες στα εσωτερικά μέτωπα των τοίχων του. Η πρόσβαση στο εσωτερικό του, πιθανότατα, πραγματοποιούνταν από είσοδο που βρίσκονταν στο επίπεδο του δεύτερου ορόφου. Στον πρώτο όροφο είχε κατασκευαστεί μεγάλη κινστέρνα επιχρισμένη με καλής ποιότητας υδραυλικό κονίαμα και καμαροσκεπή στέγη, η οποία υποστηρίζονταν από αρχαίο, μαρμάρινο κίονα σε δεύτερη χρήση. Η κρήνη που βρίσκεται στο νότιο τοίχο του πύργου θα πρέπει να επικοινωνούσε με αυτή την κινστέρνα. Ο κυκλικός πύργος, ύψους 12μ. κατασκευάστηκε κατά τη μεταβυζαντινή περίοδο, όταν είχε πλέον ολοκληρωθεί η εξωτερική οχύρωση, καθώς εφάπτεται στο νοτιοανατολικό άκρο του τείχους της. Δε διαθέτει είσοδο, διότι το εσωτερικό του επιχώνονταν συγχρόνως με την κατασκευή του πύργου, ώστε να δημιουργηθεί στην κορυφή του ένα ισοπεδωμένο δάπεδο από χώμα.Στο νότιο τμήμα της εξωτερικής οχύρωσης, πολύ κοντά στο οχυρωματικό τείχος αποκαλύφθηκαν μια μεγάλη,πλακόστρωτη κινστέρνα, μια εργαστηριακή κατασκευή και τρία μονόχωρα δωμάτια, που υποδεικνύουν κάποιου είδους βιοτεχνική και αποθηκευτική λειτουργία. Στο βόρειο τμήματης εξωτερικής οχύρωσης είχε κατασκευαστεί τοξωτή πύλη, η οποία έπαψε να χρησιμοποιείται κατά τη μεταβυζαντινή περίοδο. Την περιοχή στα νότια και νοτιοανατολικά της κατέλαβαν τρεις χώροι οικιστικής χρήσεως.Στην εσωτερική οχύρωση οδηγούσε λίθινη κλίμακα, η οποία κατέληγε σε τοξωτή πύλη, πάνω από την οποία διατηρούνται τα φουρούσια μιας καταχύστρας. Ο ορθογώνιος πύργος που αναπτύσσεται στα νοτιοανατολικά της εισόδου κατασκευάστηκε το 1431. Σώζεται σε ύψος περίπου 13μ., και πρέπει να διέθετε τυφλό ισόγειο και τρεις ορόφους με ξύλινα πατώματα. Στην κατασκευή του χρησιμοποιήθηκε αρκετό αρχαίο υλικό. Στο χώρο της εσωτερικής οχύρωσης τα πιο καλά διατηρημένα αρχιτεκτονικά κατάλοιπα είναι δυο κινστέρνες επιχρισμένες με υδραυλικό κονίαμα, οι οποίες βρίσκονται βόρεια και νότια του ορθογώνιου πύργου. Η σχετικά ομαλή περιοχή ανάμεσα τους καταλαμβάνεται από λασπόκτιστα κτίρια. Στο νότιο άκρο της οχύρωσης κατασκευάστηκε στα μεταβυζαντινά χρόνια ένα μονόχωρο, χριστιανικό ναΰδριοΛιμάνι Καμαριώτισσας Η Καμαριώτισσα βρίσκεται στη δυτική πλευρά του νησιού, κοντά στο ακρωτήριο Μακρύβραχος[1] σε υψόμετρο 14 μέτρα[3] πάνω από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας ενώ απέχει περίπου 5 χλμ. δυτικά από τη Χώρα. Οφείλει την ονομασία της στην εικόνα της Παναγίας από τις Καμάρες, η οποία φυλάσσεται στην ομώνυμη εκκλησία. Αποτελεί το μεγαλύτερο λιμάνι της Σαμοθράκης και παράλληλα τον κυριώτερο οδικό κόμβο για τις δύο πλευρές του νησιού.[2] Ο φάρος της Σαμοθράκης, Καμαριώτισσα, ΣαμοθράκηΠρογενέστερα, το λιμάνι της Παλαιόπολης, περίπου 6 χιλιόμετρα βόρειοανατολικά, θεωρούταν το πιο σημαντικό λιμάνι στο νησί, αλλά πάντα έπεφτε θύμα πειρατών και της δύναμης της φύσης. Σήμερα υπάρχει μόνο μια παλιά, σπασμένη γέφυρα. Στα τέλη του 19ου αιώνα η Καμαριώτισσα είχε μόνο μερικές εκατοντάδες κατοίκους, κυρίως αλιείς και εμπόρους. Λόγω της ευνοϊκής της θέσης, όλο και περισσότερα αλιευτικά σκάφη αγκυροβολούσαν εδώ στο τότε μικρό λιμάνι. Τις επόμενες δεκαετίες, το λιμάνι (ειδικά κατά τη διάρκεια της δεκαετίας του '90) επεκτάθηκε για να φιλοξενήσει πολλά σκάφη και μεγαλύτερα πλοία.Beach Pahia Ammos Thrace is a destination that most of us certainly have not associated with summer holidays. Η Παχιά Άμμος βρίσκεται στα νότια του νησιού και ως εκ τούτου τα κρυστάλλινα νερά της είναι σχεδόν πάντα ήσυχα, ενώ η άμμος και το χρυσό χαλίκι θυμίζουν περισσότερο Ιόνιο. Ο δρόμος που οδηγεί στην παραλία χρειάζεται λίγη προσοχή, το τοπίο όμως σας ανταμείβει με τον ωραιότερο τρόπο. Στην παραλία λειτουργούν δύο καταστήματα εστίασης, τα οποία προσφέρουν και σκιά με ομπρέλες και ξαπλώστρες. Σας εφιστούμε την προσοχή στο πού θα σταθμεύσετε το αυτοκίνητο: πολλές φορές στα αυτοκίνητα κάτω από τα δέντρα ανεβαίνουν… κατσίκες! Πρόσβαση: μέσω ασφαλτόδρομου και χωματόδρομου. Έδαφος: παχιά άμμος και χαλίκι.
